MSI Global Alliance, one of the world’s leading international associations of independent legal and accounting firms with over 260 member firms in more than 100 countries successfully organized International Conference in Madrid with Tim Wilson, CEO MSI Global Alliance as a host and ŽivkovićSamardžič in attendance.
This was the largest MSI conference ever, with 191 delegates and 233 people overall. Part of the conference was dedicated to the presentation of new members and background of their firms. Ksenija Golubović Filipović, Partner of Živković Samardžić presented our law office, as first and only appointed MSI Global Alliance law member firm, based in Serbia.
Important topics discussed at the conference included informative presentations of Pedrosa Lagos (Lawyers) and AFP (Accountants), the local host firms which welcomed everyone to Madrid and provided a historical and economic background to Spain and Madrid and their firms. After that, keynote speaker Benita Ferrero-Waldner pointed out how Europe is in a new order in transition, where seismic power shifts towards Asia are on their way and where we live in a transformation of economic models.
MSI conference was also an opportunity to hear and participate in very interesting topics such are Mergers and Acquisitions, International Tax, Private Clients and Estate Planning, VAT and Indirect taxes, Real Estate, Arbitration and Mediation, Transfer Pricing etc.
During the two-day conference other lecturers like Howard Fischer – Moses & Singer LLP explained in their presentation that accountants and auditors are seen by law enforcement as essential “gate-keepers.” Then Tore Teir – Greenstep Oy continued dialogue about important role of software and it’s as competitive edge. Then followed presentation on topic “How to create a competitive advantage in professional service firms”, presented by Jamie Lyon from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). An last but not least topic of the conference was Women in the professions presented by Franz Heidinger – Alix Frank Rechtsanwälte GmbH Equality.
