Global Advertising Lawyers Alliance (“GALA”), an alliance of lawyers located throughout the world with expertise and experience in advertising, marketing and promotion law, organized its 20th annual meeting last week in London, the United Kingdom, with Lewis Silkin LLP as the host law firm and with Živković Samardžić in attendance. Almost 120 delegates from 60 countries participated in the four-day conference. The participants enjoyed not only the impressive business agenda, but also the excellent social agenda.
One of the speakers at the event was Mr. Guy Parker, Chief Executive of the Advertising Standards Authority, the UK regulator of ads in all media, who provided a glimpse into the topic how brands, agencies and regulators are responding to the challenge of promoting new green technologies without indulging in greenwashing.
GALA’s annual meeting was also an opportunity to hear and participate in very interesting topics such as macroeconomic factors that are affecting transactions today, the expected mergers and acquisitions trends for 2023, issues with equity component of purchase price and restrictive covenants. Panel discussions included hot topics such as building business and marketing in the post-pandemic world, as well as what’s keeping clients up at night.
