Kruna Savović, Živković Samardžić Partner and Head of Media Litigation practice and Miloš Stojković, Živković Samardžić Senior Associate and Head of Digital, were amongst the select few panellists at the „Freedom of Expression in the Case Law of the European Court of Human Rights and the National Courts in Serbia“, a seminar co-organized last week by the OSCE Mission to Serbia, the Supreme Court of Cassation of Serbia and the Journalists’ Association of Serbia.
Following the opening remarks made by Mr Andrea Orizio, Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, Mr Dragomir Milojević, acting President of the Supreme Court of Cassation and Mr Vladimir Radomirović, President of The Journalists’ Association of Serbia, seminar included panels on the application of tripartite test in the European Court of Human Rights’ case law, on practical challenges in cases dealing with hate speech as well as the presentation of the Analysis on the boundaries of the acceptable criticism of judiciary in media reports dealing with pending cases.
Besides Kruna Savović and Miloš Stojković, as the only practicing lawyers, list of panelists included Mr Dragoljub Popović, former Judge of the European Court of Human Rights, Mr Katarina Manojlović Andrić, Judge of the Supreme Court of Cassation, Ms Irena Garčević, Judge of the Appellate Court in Belgrade, Ms Ljiljana Smajlović, journalist and Mr Veran Matić, journalist and Chairman of the Serbian Commission for Investigating Murders of Journalists.
